The video above shows the jacking of an existing 3 800 square metre roof by 4m, as part of the total refurbishment of the Aeroton warehouse complex. The outstanding success of this project was due to the collaboration between various parties, in particular L&S consulting and Tass Engineering the main structural steel contractor.

The jacking of the roof in a single lift operation with the structure remaining intact (including roof sheeting and side cladding), rather than demolishing and rebuilding, was proposed by Tass Engineering in answer to their clients request to provide extra volume in the warehouse for a new tenant.

Having had previous experience with similar projects Tass Engineering confidently executed this method to lift the roof in an extremely economical and time effective way, thus meeting clients objectives to their satisfaction.

As a result of the success of this project and the unique way in which it was executed, Tass Engineering have entered it into the South African Institute of Steel Construction 2016 Steel Awards where they have been winners on many occasions.
